个人简介
Expert in nonlinear structural dynamics and structural failure analysis with more than 28 years of research, engineering, and project management experience. Recent projects focusing on: crashworthiness and transportation safety; failure analysis; progressive collapse analysis; blast, impact, and penetration mechanics; mechanics of materials.
Prior to joining ARA, I worked for SRI International, where I developed and applied simulation techniques for failure analysis of materials and structures. I developed crack propagation algorithms and local damage models for predicting dynamic failure of steel weldments and incorporated a variety of new material and damage models into large-scale finite element structural analysis codes including polymer and metal matrix composite damage models, brittle fracture models, and ductile damage models for metals.
I obtained my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University in 1999 while working for SRI. My doctoral research focused on constitutive modeling and failure analysis of metal matrix composites. I also have a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree, with honors, in Applied Mechanics from University of California, San Diego.
I played an integral role in establishing the Silicon Valley Office of ARA as a Center of Excellence in Finite Element Crash Analysis as designated by the Federal Highway Administration. I have performed a wide range of crashworthiness analyses and design projects in the highway traffic and railroad industries.
