Bio
Mr. Evener is a public health professional who specializes in health promotion and behavior through translating data into action. Mr. Evener’s career in public health began during his MPH program at Georgia State University, where he concentrated on health promotion and behavior. He focused on improving the sexual health among sexual and gender minorities; specifically among the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) community. During his program, he gained experience researching sexually transmitted shigellosis-related health communication messaging among gay and bisexual men in Atlanta, GA. He has worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an ORISE Fellow in the Division of STD Prevention (DSTDP), a deployer for the WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) Team with the Community Intervention and At-Risk Task Force of the COVID-19 Emergency Response, a Study Coordinator for the Enhanced Surveillance Team with the Epidemiology Task Force of the COVID-19 Emergency Response, and as a Data Analyst for the Surveillance & Analytics Team with the Epidemiology Task Force of the COVID-19 Emergency Response.
Mr. Evener has an ability to find gaps in programs and provide effective solutions. He works well with others and keeps teammates and supervisors up-to-date on the status of projects and deliverables. Mr. Evener is able to communicate clearly, concisely, and in a manner that is easy to understand no matter the audiences’ backgrounds. He attacks tasks with a sense of urgency without sacrificing performance quality or professionalism. Mr. Evener has experience with collecting, managing, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, SAS, and MAXQDA. He is also experienced in using software such as Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Access, Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint to manage and visualize data.
