Current engineering applications are the sequestration of greenhouse gases in deeply buried strata, geothermal energy extraction, enhanced oil recovery, and the prediction of contaminant transport in the subsurface.
I am teaching courses in Groundwater Hydrology, Geotechnical Engineering (Systems Modelling and Design), and Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering. In S1-2022, the new elective Computational Geotechnical Engineering will start. Professional short courses to industry include simulation of fluid flow in fractured rock masses and the simulation of naturally fractured reservoirs. These are facilitated by professional societies like SPE and international education providers like HOT or SALVO.
