个人简介
Stefano Magni obtained his B.Sc. in physics and his M.Sc. in theoretical physics from the University of Pavia, Italy, respectively in 2009 and 2011. During his M.Sc. studies, thanks to an ERASMUS scholarship he spent 6 months at the University of Helsinki, Finland, to work on his M.Sc. thesis with Syksy Räsänen. He obtained in 2015 his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of Montpellier, France. In 2016, he joined the Institute for Theoretical and Quantitative Biology (QTB) of the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Germany, where within a postdoc position of 8 months he worked on mathematical modelling of gene regulations with Oliver Ebenhöh. He then joined the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) of the University of Luxembourg for a 5 years postdoctoral position within the Doctoral Training Unit CriTiCS (Critical Transitions in Complex Systems), focused on training Ph.D. students on interdisciplinary projects at the interface between biology and physics. Therein, he primarily worked with Jorge Goncalves, Alexander Skupin and Rudi Balling. His main research within CriTiCS has focused on employing mathematical modelling and data analysis techniques to address biomedical questions. In particular, he employed and developed computational methods for single-cell RNA-Sequencing data to investigate neurodevelopmental aspects of Prakinson's disease. In 2020 and 2021, he has significantly contributed to the COVID-19 Luxembourg task force by developing mathematical models of COVID-19 spread within the population and regularly performing statistical data analysis to inform policy-making. Currently he is visiting researcher at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine and postdoctoral researcher at the National Department of Neurosurgery of the Centre Hospitalier du Luxembourg.
