Bio
Sofia Marques da Silva is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP), Portugal, with teaching experience in research methodologies, including digital methods, sociology of education, digital media and youth cultures. She is a member of the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE) of the University of Porto. She has been involved in several European and international projects related to diversity and education, youth cultures, children and young people from rural and border regions, resilient schools and communities and sense of belonging. She has been involved in the evaluation of international research projects for international organisations and she was consultant of the National Federation of Youth Associations. From 2017 to 2020 she was appointed, by the Portuguese Government, the Deputy Coordinator of the Portuguese national digital skills and jobs coalition, the Portuguese National Digital Competences Initiative e.2030 - Portugal INCoDe.2030, a long-term inter-ministry public policy program that aims to promote digital literacy and inclusion and employment upskilling. She also leads the first of 5 pillars (Axis 1 - Inclusion) of Portugal INCoDe.2030. She is a member of NESET II, the EC’s DGEAC’s advisory network of experts working on the social dimension of education and training. She is a member of the EU-funded Sirius 2.0 Policy Network on Migrant Education (2017-2021). She serves as Deputy President of the Portuguese Society of Education Sciences, and, in 2014, she was the Chair of the European Conference on Educational Research (EERA/ECER), hosted by U.Porto. She has been publishing at national and international level. She was the Editor-in-chief of the journal Ethnography & Education (Taylor & Francis/Routledge) (2018-2022).
