Bio
Simon is a postdoctoral researcher in the Margrie lab. His deep interest lies in understanding the functional logic of interhemispheric connectivity in the brain. More specifically, he is investigating how individual neurons in the two hemispheres of the visual cortex work together to ultimately guide behaviour. For his research, Simon uses various techniques to dissect neuronal circuits such as optophysiology, in vivo calcium imaging as well as neuronal tracing.
Before joining the SWC, Simon performed his PhD in the lab of Tobias Bonhoeffer at the Max-Planck Institute for Neurobiology in Germany. During his PhD, he focused on the relation between neuronal response properties and input connectivity at the single cell level in the mouse visual cortex.
