个人简介
After achieving an Honours Class 1 in Mechatronic Engineer at Macquarie University in Sydney, Simon Strachan moved up to Brisbane where he is currently a PhD student in the School of Environment and Science (ESC) and Queensland Micro- and Nanotechnology Centre (QMNC) at Griffith University. He is involved in an ARC Linkage project that aims to develop a novel on-farm diagnostic device, comprising new nanotechnology and magnetism-induced microfluidics with naked eye observation and electrochemical detection. Coming from engineering he can give the team a different viewpoint regarding the design and physical constraints for diagnostic devices. Moving into a completely different field has allowed him to expand his knowledge to grow into a well-rounded academic. That does not stop him from still entertaining and making sure all meetings and discussions with the team are light-hearted but serious when they need to be.
