Career Trajectory
Bio
Siegfried Jaecques received the Ph.D. degree from K. U. Leuven University in 1995 from the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering (MTM) for his work on the fatigue properties of thermoplastic vulcanisates and their application in total hip replacement stems. His main research interests are implant fixation and hard tissue restoration. He worked three years as a post-doc at MTM and then joined the division of Biomechanics and Engineering Design (BMGO) in 1999, to work on vibration analysis for detecting the loosening of hip stems. Specific research interests also include the effect of immediate loading and mechanical stimulation on the osseointegration of implants. In 2007 he joined the BIOMAT Research Cluster of the K. U. Leuven Dental School to work on the 3-D characterization of biomaterial-hard tissue interfaces.
