Shuk-Ching Wong

Ms. Shuk-Ching WONG is currently the Senior Nursing Officer (Infection Control) at Queen Mary Hospital and Hong Kong West Cluster, Hospital Authority, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. She has been appointed as an Honorary Associate Professor by the School of Nursing and the Department of Microbiology at the University of Hong Kong. She holds a Master of Nursing (Clinical Leadership) from Western Sydney University and a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Wollongong in Australia. Ms. Wong was awarded the Mr. Lui Hac Minh Prize for Infection Control, recognizing her as the candidate with the highest score in the examination for the Certificate in Infection Control from the University of Hong Kong. She has been the coordinator of the Infection Control Course for the past 10 years, with over 10,000 attendees. She actively participates in infection control-related clinical research, focusing on areas such as promoting patient empowerment in hand hygiene and the control of multi-drug resistant organisms. Ms. Wong has played a significant role in numerous investigations, including the first report of nosocomial transmission of Japanese encephalitis virus via blood transfusion and nosocomial transmission of hepatitis C virus via reusable blood collection tube holders. She has published over 50 international peer-reviewed original articles in the field of infection control. Recently, her focus has been on infection control and prevention measures for COVID-19. She is responsible for infection control logistics and management in community treatment and isolation facilities for COVID-19 patients in Hong Kong. In recognition of her contributions, Ms. Wong was awarded the Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service in 2020.
