Prof. Shu is expertised in optical engineering, optical inertia and systems, testing metrology technology and instrumentation areas and mainly engaged in the research of optical sensing, precision testing, optical inertial instruments and applications. He leads the OITC team to acquire international top-ranking research results ,fills the technical gap in the field and obtains fruitful scientific research achievements with independent intellectual property rights through unremitting efforts: perfect the theoretical system of optical fiber interference measurement,
propose and implement a new method about optical fiber interferometry sensing analysis, and comprehensively master the core technology. The research results reach the highest level in the world.
Prof. Shu leads the research team to achieve excellent achievements and great progress in various aspects, such as the completion of scientific research task, the A+ discipline development of optical engineering, the construction of key laboratories, the innovation team and the industrialization cooperation. He has obtained more than 100 national patents and won the first prize in the provincial and ministerial level of scientific and technological progress in 2007, National Science and technology progress award in 2008, first prize in science and technology progress at provincial level in 2012, advanced individual commendation of provincial Ministry in 2012 and first prize of national scientific and technological progress in 2017; He also has outstanding team construction achievements and leads the team to win "outstanding team in 11th Five-Year" issued by Ministry of science and technology in 2011, "outstanding group" awarded by national major project expert group in 2013.
