The goal of my current PhD project is to demonstrate the differential regulation of translational repressors 4E-BP1 and 4E-BP2 in mammalian cells under ER stress, owing to the differences in their 3'UTRs. 4E-BPs are endogenous factors that inhibit eukaryotic translation initiation. There's increasing evidence that stress & disorders in translation are the culprits behind many diseases. Therefore, understanding the connection between these two brings us closer in treating many of these diseases.
