Dr. Shiv Prakash Singh is a Glass scientist and has wide range of research and technology development experience in the area of glass and glass ceramics.
Dr. Singh is working as a Senior Scientist at the International Adavanced Research Center for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), Hyderabad, India since November 2019. Prior to this, he was scientsit at Institute of nanotechnology (INT), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Karlsruhe, Germany during September 2016 to March 2019. He was also a Postdoctoral Fellow with the prestigeous FAPESP fellowship at the Materials Engineering Department, Federal University of Sao Carlos, Sao Carlos-SP, Brail during February 2014 to June 2016. He has short duration stay as Research Associate at Indian Institution of Secience Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata, India during April 2013 to November 2013. He has done his doctoral research work at CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CGCRI), Kolkata, India since July 2007 to March 2013.
Dr. Singh has published several research papers in SCI journals, book chapters, and given invited/contributory talks in the several national and international conferences/symposium/workshops. He has been awarded with KIT-Guest Scientist Fellowship, Research Foundation of Sao Paulo (FAPESP) Postdoc fellowship and CSIR-Senior Research Fellowship to conduct his research activities. He has also involved in some externally funded projects. He has been in the Editorial Boards as an Associate Editor in the Journal of the American Ceramic Society and Frontiers in Materials.
His research interest is on the synthesis and property evaluation of different types of glasses ranges oxides, metallic, chalcogenide, etc. He has expertise on the glass synthesis by different methods such as melt-quence, sol-gel, magnetron sputtering, inert gas condensation, and melt-spinning. He has studied different glass properties like optical, thermal, structural, electrical, magnetic and mechanical properties. During last few years, he has developed a broad network of glass professionals from academic and industries.
His notable research highlights are as follow. He has reported for the first time the surface plasmon resonance of bismuth nanometals in the glass matrix. He studies extensibly the optical properties of the bismuth oxide glasses. He expertised in the development of glass coating technology for the plasma display panels from the bulk oxide glass to powder and paste using solvents, binders, plastisizers and surfactants. Study of the crystallization kinetics and electrical properties of the oxy-nitride glasses is another area of his research interest. He has synthesized the TbFe metallic nanoglass using inert gas condensation technique and have evaluated the deformation mechanism using high pressure torsion (HPT) and magnetic property by SQUID. Currently he has been involved in the development of low expansion glass ceramics and other functional glasses/glass ceramics.
