个人简介
Shiming Gao received his B.E. and Ph.D. Degrees in 2000 and 2005 from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and now he is working as a full professor with Centre for Optical and Electromagnetic Research (COER), Department of Optical Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China.
In 2011, he was selected as the “Qiushi Young Scientist” of Zhejiang University and won the second prize for the Excellent Scientific Achievement of the University in Zhejiang Province. In 2012, he was awarded Jin Guofan Prize for excellent youth of China Instrument Society Scholarships. He is one of the speaker teachers of the course of Fiber-Optic Communications Technology, one of the national bilingual demo courses. From 2009 to 2011, he has visited University of California, Irvine, CA, the United States, supported by the “New-Star Program” of Zhejiang University and the "Oversea Research Project for Yong Backbone Teachers” of China Scholarship Council. He has published 100 papers, in which 55 papers are SCI-indexed. He has written two chapters in two books respectively, published by Intech Publisher, Croatia, and Science Publisher, China. He owns 7 Chinese invention patents now. He has written an invited paper for Journal of Optical Physics & Materials, and given invited talks in the international conferences of ICOCN’10 and APOC’05. He is a member of the OECC’09 Conference Technical Committee for Optical Signal Processing.
His research interests are nonlinear optical effects and applications, especially the nonlinear applications of the integrated silicon nanowire waveguides. As the principle investigator, he has finished or is undertaking 3 projects supported by National Scientific Foundation of China and 3 projects supported by Zhejiang Province or National Ministries. Also, he has finished 4 national or provincial projects as a backbone researcher.
