Bio
Shichang Gao was born in Anhui, China in 1972. He received the B.Sc. degree in physics from the Fu'yang Normal Institute, Anhui, China, in 1993, the M.Eng. degree in electronic engineering from the China Research Institute of Radiowave Propagation, Henan, China, in 1996, and the Ph.D degree in eletronic engineering from Shanghai University, Shanghai, China, in 1999.
Since 1993, he was at the China Research Institute of Radiowave Propagation, where he completed a project on radiowave propagation modeling in mobile communication systems. He also worked at Microwave Labs in National University of Singapore, Singapore, and Communication Group at Birmingham University, Birmingham, U.K., before moving to Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K. He was a Visiting Scientist at Swiss Federal Insitute of Technology, Zurich, in 2003. Currently he is a Senior Lecturer at Northumbria University. His interests include microstrip antennas, active antennas, phased arrays, microwave circuits (RF power amplifiers with high efficiency and high linearity), radio transmitters, radio propagation and communication systems.
