Bio
Shizhi Chen received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from State
University of New York (SUNY) Binghamton, New York, NY, USA, in 2004, the M.S. degree in electrical engineering and
computer science from University of California Berkeley, CA, USA, in 2006, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical
engineering from The City College of New York, The City University of New York, New York, in 2013.
From 2006 to 2009, he was an Engineer with several companies, including Altera, Supertex Inc., and the U.S. Patent
and Trademark Office. He is currently an Engineer with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Newport, RI, USA. His research
interests include object recognition, detection and tracking, and machine learning.
Dr. Chen is a member of Eta Kappa Nu (electrical engineering honor society) and of Tau Beta Pi (engineering honor
society). He has been a recipient of numerous scholarships and fellowships, including an Achievement Rewards for College
Scientists (ARCS) Fellowship and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) CREST Fellowship.
