Bio
Dr. Yang's work in materials science with focus on two-dimensional materials, batteries, and catalysts is extensive. At Oak Ridge National Laboratory, he focused on two-dimensional materials study. Additionally, he was a pioneer in demonstrating the ability to manipulate single Re dopant atoms in monolayer MoS2 and developed the three-dimensional tomography technique on the same material to reveal the 3D atomic coordinates and local strains. He studied the atomic level plane view and cross-sectional view of intercalated structure of SnS2 with a specially designed sample protection method using standard sample transfer and FIB methods. These papers demonstrated Dr. Yang’s successful application and development of advanced electron microscopy technique to the study of low-dimensional materials.
