Sherief Khalifa

Sherief Khalifa, PhD Professor and Vice Chancellor for Quality and Global Engagement, Dean, College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University, UAE Sherief Khalifa received his BSc (Pharm) at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia in 1986, and his PhD at the University of Mississippi (USA) in 1994. Dr. Khalifa joined Suez Canal University, Misr International University and Qatar University in various academic and administrative roles. He was a Fulbright Scholar at Georgia State University in 2001 and adjunct faculty with the School of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi from 2001 – 2005. As Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Qatar University he contributed to the accreditation of the Bachelor of Pharmacy and the PharmD programs by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP). In 2015, he assumed the position of Director of Quality Assurance at the level of the University for 2 years. Dr. Khalifa joined Gulf Medical University in August of 2017 as the Dean of the College of Pharmacy. Under his leadership the PharmD program received accreditation by the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) and certification by the American Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The Master’s in Clinical Pharmacy and Master of Science in Drug Discovery and Development programs both were launched and received accreditation by the CAA during Dr. Khalifa’s Deanship. Dr. Khalifa is a regular course leader in the “Teaching Excellence in Pharmacy Education” program organized by Knowledge E and ACPE and sponsored by the Egyptian Knowledge Bank. In January of 2020, Dr. Khalifa assumed the position of Vice Chancellor for Quality and Global Engagement. In July of 2021, under his leadership Gulf Medical University received international institutional accreditation by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), the agency that accredits higher education institutions in the United Kingdom. In 2021, Dr. Khalifa was nominated and then elected to serve as a member of the ACPE International Commission and in January 2022, he became the Vice Chair of ACPE International Commission.
