Research Interests
Dr Gregory’s primary research focus is on the development and evaluation of cardiovascular devices, with a particular focus on rotary blood pumps. He has expertise in areas including anatomical fitting, cannula design, mock circulation loop development, physiological control, in-vitro and in-vivo evaluation of cardiovascular devices, and more. He also has some industry experience, with a three-year role as Chief Technology Officer for De Motu Cordis Pty Ltd, a medication delivery company. Some of his ongoing research projects include:
– Development of a mechanical representation of the heart and circulatory system for laboratory testing of cardiovascular devices
– Design and evaluation of a new surgical fixation mechanism for implanting mechanical circulatory and respiratory support
– Physiological control systems which automatically adjust mechanical circulatory and respiratory support performance based on patient requirements
– Improving the end-user experience by incorporating all user (patient, caregiver, doctor, etc) requirements for mechanical circulatory and respiratory support
