Kothavale Shantaram

Dr. Shantaram Kothavale born in September 1981 in Sangavisurya, Maharashtra, India. He received his B.Sc. in chemistry in 2002 and M.Sc. in organic chemistry in 2004 from University of Pune. After M.Sc, he worked in National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) and other chemical companies till 2010. After qualifying UGC-CSIR funded National Eligibility Test (NET-JRF) in December-2010, he joined for full-time Ph.D in 2011 at Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai and completed his degree in 2017 with thesis titled 'Donor-Acceptor and ESIPT based fluorescent colorants: synthesis, photophysical and DFT computational studies'. He joined as post-doctoral researcher at Sungkyunkwon University, in August 2017 and working in the same institute till date. His current research mainly focuses on the molecular design and organic synthesis of highly efficient host and thermally activated delayed fluorescent emitters for OLED applications. He his having expertise in design and synthesis of organic materials from milligram to gram scale, their purification methods including column chromatography, combi-flash chromatography, solvent crystallization, etc. He is having good experience to characterize organic compounds through various spectroscopic techniques such as NMR, MASS, IR, GCMS, LCMS, HPLC, etc. He is well versed with various optoelectronic characterization techniques such as UV-visible and photoluminescence spectrometry, cyclic voltammetry, photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and transient photoluminescence (TRPL) measurement, OLED fabrication, etc.
