个人简介
I’m Shakiba, a Computer Science Ph.D. student at the 3D Interaction Group at Virginia Tech under the supervision of Doug Bowman.
My research interest relies on the connection between my past research experience in applied Machine Learning and my current passion for Glanceable Augmented Reality(AR) interface design. More specifically, I am a 3D interaction/interface designer, focusing on Context-Aware Intelligent AR Interfaces. As a Ph.D. student I concentrate on detecting AR user’s context and using that information to intelligently adapt the AR interface; Offering a potential solution that not only mitigates the existing challenges of AR such as real-world occlusion and social intrusiveness but also provides more reliable and efficient information access and interaction in AR.
Currently, during the summer of 2022, as a Research Scientist Intern at Adobe, I am honored to work with Jane Hoffswell and Stefano Petrangeli to explore context-aware document consumption in AR.
Last year, during the summer of 2021, I joined Microsoft as a Research Intern. I enjoyed working with and learning from amazing researchers such as Andrew Begel, Ed Cutrell, Rich Stoakley, and Carmen Badea to explore the applications of Mixed Reality for Low-vision users.
