Bio
Dr. Shaikh M Ahmad is a public health nutrition & vaccine-efficacy researcher, data analyst, and adj. associate professor with the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology, North-South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dr. Ahmad completed B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biochemistry at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and a Ph.D. in Nutritional Biology with a designated emphasis in International Nutrition at the University of California, Davis, USA.
Dr. Ahmad has more than 15 years of research experience across the community and public health settings in Bangladesh. In this tenure, he obtained competitive research grants as PI/Co-PI from the WHO, Thrasher Foundation, Nestle Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Sida, and IAEA. As a research team lead, he completed five clinical trials registered at the NIH, USA, related to the maternal and infant nutrition interventions and vaccine-efficacy studies in Bangladesh.
Dr. Ahmad is the author of more than 30 research articles published in international peer-reviewed journals. He presented his research works in more than fifteen international conferences/ workshops, including Keystone, Micronutrient Forum, WHO, and IAEA.
His research interests include critical micronutrient deficiencies during pregnancy through early infancy on the risk of nutritional dysbiosis and weak immune function development that may lead to inadequate vaccine responses and/or recurrent infections in developing country settings.
