Bio
Dr Shahzad Jamil has been working as a leading researcher on water and wastewater engineering and implementing innovative ideas in alternative water sources. He has worked as a research assistant in Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, at the Centre for Technology in Water and Wastewater (CTWW) at UTS, which is a leading research center in the field of alternative water sources. He has worked on different industrial locally and internationally funded following projects.
• He has been working as main researcher on the following projects with his supervisor Prof Vigneswaran for the last 5 years. The funding these projects were came from the National Centre of Desalination Australia (NCEDA), and CRC-CARE and local councils on competitive basis.
• He has been working as main researcher on CRC CARE project (CRC CARE project 4.15.12/13) “Sustainable process for treatment of waste-water reverse osmosis concentrate to achieve near zero liquid discharge”. Which is in alignment with my proposed project.
• He was a main researcher on project ACTIWATE funded by the European Commission (PIOF-2010-272584). And research work was published in the Journal of “Water Science and Technology”: Forward Osmosis for the Treatment of RO Concentrate from Water Reclamation: Process Performance and Fouling Control.”
• He has worked as leading researcher on a project funded by “Cooperative Contamination Assessment and Remediation of the Environment (CRC CARE) (project number 4.1.10-14/15).
His research achievement includes publication in top ranking journals such as Materials Today and “Water research” with impact factor of 26.943 and 13.4 respectively as a first author. Every researcher working in water and wastewater has a dream to publish his research in these top-ranking journals and had won research excellence publication award in 2015 and 2016 from UTS.
He has the honor to present my research work in “IWA World Water Congress” held in Brisbane 2016, in which professionals from more than one hundred countries took part. It is to be considered the most prestigious conference in the field of water and wastewater research.
As an industrial researcher his expertise includes but is not limited to the areas of Forward Osmosis, nano-filtration reverse osmosis, membrane technology and adsorption. His research interests include sustainable development of processes for wastewater treatment, environmental impact assessment, and energy conservation.
Shahzad completed his BSc Engineering (Chemical), at Punjab University, and his Master of Environmental Science Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He earned his PhD degree, which focused on environmental engineering, from UTS.
