Leadership roles: I remained active during my PhD as a Biochemistry Student Representative where my focus was to help my fellow colleagues overcome day to day problems during their PhD work, helping them in experimental trouble shooting and improve their professional outcomes overall. I am also an active volunteer for improving women education in minority communities.
Currently I chair mentoring committee of the Postdoctoral Association at Ingham Institute of Applied research. In addition to mentoring postdocs and ECRs, I have organised Ingham’s Postdoc research showcase 2021, Life outside academia Webinar series and also Social events like Trivia and bring a plate initiatives. I. am the Ingham Institute representative of the Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR). I also represents the MEDIC, Social diversity and minority group, UNSW , and is an active member of the Women in Research Network, UNSW (WiRN). I am passionate about mentoring women and school children and participate in my local government area's environmental and safety initiatives.
Mentoring for PhD students and junior colleagues: I am passionate about mentoring my junior colleagues and PhD students. I have now helped multiple prospective students to help attain their goals in seeking higher degree research enrolments. I have also helped voluntarily numerous students in their daily experimental trouble shooting and sometimes even in their life challenges. I am very proud to say that I brought a smile to many faces while I am at work as well as when someone reach out to me. I have also developed Key national and international collaboration.
Teaching and Supervision:
I just love teaching and mentoring students. I have now taught more than 200 undergraduate university students as an associate lecturer at Monash and mentored many honour’s and master’s students (supervised 4 Masters of research students at Anand Agri Uni in 2007-2009; I am currently a Project C supervisor for four 4th Year bachelor’s student (mentored 6 undergrad students in 2020-2021). I am the current co-supervisor of 3 Master of Research students; has recently supervised three summer research students from WSU and UNSW and one honour’s and one Master’s students at UNSW.
