Bio
I am interested in discovery of new genes that cause neurological diseases and generating model systems for the investigation of rare forms of neurodevelopmental or neurodegenerative disorders. Through my research, I intend to understand underlying cellular and molecular pathways implicated in disease pathogenesis that could be targeted for therapeutic interventions. Using a wide range of techniques including molecular biology, imaging, behavioral analysis and electrophysiology-I model human neurological diseases by expressing proteins with conserved mutations or by knocking down genes of interest in a tissue specific manner. Goal of my research is to gain an understanding of the etiology of neurodegenerative diseases and provide insights into the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms of disease pathogenesis.
