Bio
Sepideh Akhbarifar is a versatile physicist and materials scientist with expertise in materials synthesis and multiscale materials characterization. With a proactive and collaborative approach, she excels in achieving project objectives and delivering technical reports. Her passion for science communication has led her to give over 26 international presentations as a Keynote and invited speaker. Currently a research scientist at the Vitreous State Laboratory/Physics Department of 'The Catholic University of America,' she also holds the position of adjunct professor in the School of Engineering. Holding a Ph.D. in physics and dual master's degrees in chemical engineering and nuclear environmental protection, Sepideh's research focuses on environmental protection, thermoelectric ceramics, low CO2-emitting cement (geopolymers) for construction and radioactive waste immobilization, and high-efficiency air dust removal. She holds two patents and has published widely. She was also recognized as the 'Young Women Inventor 2010' by the National Elites Foundation in Iran for her innovative contributions. Sepideh's leadership extends to organizing scientific symposia, serving as a reviewer, and acting as a Guest Editor for the Special Issue "Heat Transfer in Thermoelectric Modules" in the journal Entropy, emphasizing her dedication to advancing the field.
