Bio
Sean J. O'Connor received the B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, in 1965 and 1967, respectively, and the M.D. degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Farmington, CT, in 1978. He completed Psychiatric Residency also at the University of Connecticut, Connecticut School of Medicine, in 1982.
He is currently a Faculty member in psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, and in biomedical engineering at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. His current research interests include genetic determinants of the human brain's adaptive response to alcohol. He directs three laboratories where subjective perceptions, neuropsychologic tests, eye movements, and EEG are used to characterize the ways people who are more vulnerable to future alcoholism respond differently to alcohol when compared to controls.
