Scott Samuelsen

Scott Samuelsen received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1964, 1965, and 1970, respectively, all in mechanical engineering. He is the Director of the National Fuel Cell Research Center, University of California, Irvine (UCI), and Professor of mechanical, aerospace, and environmental engineering. He is also associated with the Advanced Power and Energy Program, UCI. He Co-Chairs the California Stationary Fuel Cell Collaborative, and in the 1970s, pioneered the development of octane posting with the Federal Trade Commission. He is responsible for the popular (R + M)/2 posting that is used around the world today. His current research interests include fuel cells and fuel cell systems for stationary applications, gas turbine combustion, fuel cell/gas turbine hybrid technology, and the hydrogen infrastructure for mobile hydrogen-fueled combustion and fuel cell vehicles.
