Bio
Scott Painter leads the Watershed Systems Modeling Group, which develops state-of-the-art integrated models for water movement through watersheds and the associated transport and biogeochemical transformation of waterborne constituents on the surface and in the subsurface. Scott has extensive experience in multiphysics and multiscale modeling of subsurface and integrated surface/subsurface systems in support of environmental systems studies. His current research focuses on reactive transport in river/stream corridors, permafrost thermal hydrology, and physically based watershed modeling. Prior to joining ORNL in 2014, he had positions with Los Alamos National Laboratory and Southwest Research Institute, where he focused on geological disposal of radioactive waste and radionuclide migration in the environment.
