Career Trajectory
Bio
I am a marine biologist specializing in the population biology and feeding ecology of North Pacific seabirds. Having retired in 2012 from 37 years of service with the U.S. federal government (Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Geological Survey), I continue collaborative research and work to develop a permanent field station on Middleton Island, Alaska, as a founding director and senior scientist with the nonprofit Institute for Seabird Research and Conservation. ISRC promotes scientific understanding of marine ecosystems through long-term studies, with seabirds serving as indicators of systemic change in their ocean environment.
