Thomas Schreiber

Thomas Schreiber was born in Gera, Germany, on September 24, 1976. He received the Diploma degree in general physics from the Friedrich Schiller University, Jena, Germany, in 2001, receiving the prize for best exam. After finishing his Ph.D. work in 2006 at the Laser Development Group, Institute of Applied Physics, Friedrich-Schiller-University, he is leading the fiber laser group within the Department of Precision Engineering, Fraunhofer Institute of Applied Optics and Precision Engineering, Jena. During his Ph.D., he worked in the field of fluorescence lifetime imaging as a biology application of laser physics with P. French at Imperial College, London, U.K., in 2003. His current research work includes novel optical properties of photonic crystal fibers, modeling of ultrashort pulse propagation as well as high power fiber technology ranging from components to pulsed and continuous wave laser systems for fundamental, industrial and space applications. He published more than 160 papers and conference contributions, three book contributions and more than ten invited talks, giving 2700 citations and an h-index of 27. Dr. Schreiber is a Member of the German Physical Society and the Optical Society of America.
