Bio
Dr. Sarah Jean Johnson is an Assistant Professor of Literacy and Biliteracy in the Department of Teacher Education at The University of Texas at El Paso. Her research draws from linguistic anthropologies’ frameworks and methods to study the social and cognitive processes of children’s literacy development. With support from the National Endowment for the Arts, her current research examines children's embodied ways of knowing, identity development, and the cultural contexts for learning in community arts programs in the El Paso border region.
