个人简介
I am an associate professor in biological physics at the University of Leeds, and am affiliated with the School of Physics and Astronomy, and the Astbury Centre for Structural and Molecular Biology. I use high performance computing to understand the physical mechanisms that underpin the function of biological macromolecules, such as DNA and molecular motors. I have been using community software (e.g. GROMACS/AMBER) to perform atomistic molecular dynamics simulations for around 20 years. I am a strong advocate for the need for computation within the biological sciences. Inspired by the revolution in structural biology driven by cryo-Electron Microscopy, I recently released a biosimulation software tool (Fluctuating Finite Element Analysis - FFEA) to perform simulations at mesoscopic length and timescales using a unique computational algorithm developed at Leeds with my collaborators in Maths, with the aim of creating a new community of simulators working at the biological mesoscale.
