Bio
Sara M. Cerqueira was born in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, in 1996. She received an M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering, specialized in medical Electronics, from the University of Minho, Braga, in 2019. She became student member of the IEEE in 2019. During this year, she had an executive role at the University of Minho's IEEE Student Branch, where she organized events with renound institutions, such as the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) and Graphnest, and speakers, such as Pedro Alpuim, Paulo Novais and Jérôme-Borme.
She authored 4 ISI/Scopus conference publications and 1 article in IEEE ACCESS journal. Also, she peer-reviewed 3 times for IEEE ACCESS.
Since 2018, she is a research at Bioinspired Robotic Devices Laboratory (BiRD LAB) from the Centre for MicroElectroMechanical Systems (CMEMS), University of Minho.
From February 2020 to April 2021, she participated in a research grant for Factory-of-the-Future: Smart Manufacturing (P45), resultant from a consortium between Bosch Car Multimédia Portugal,S.A. and the University of Minho. She was responsible for the conceptualization and design of ErgoWear, a inertial-based smart-garment sensing technology. During this fellowship, she contacted with BOSCH's workers to gather their inputs and views for the needs of an ergonomic intervention and development of new technology to improve workspace ergonomics.
Currently, she is doctoral candidate for Eletronics and Computers Engineering, in the specialization field of Control, Automation, and Robotics, at University of Minho. She was granted with a MIT's MPP2030-FCT PhD Grant to conduct research in Human-Robot Collaboration for improved workspace ergonomics, specifically in the development of Human-aware and Human-care control strategies.
Her Research interests include human-robot Collaboration&Interaction, Human modelling, Artificial Intelligence, wearable sensors, and biofeedback technologies.
