Bio
Santanu Das (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Tech. degree in ceramic technology from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India, in 2003, the M.Tech. degree in ceramic engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University (BHU)), Varanasi, India, in 2005, and the Ph.D. degree in materials science and engineering from Florida International University, Miami, FL, USA, in 2012.
He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Ceramic Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU). His research interests include synthesis of thin films, two-dimensional (2-D) graphene, and transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) materials and applications based on these materials in order to solve the issues and challenges in photonics, electronics and optoelectronics, energy harvesting and storage, and sensor devices. His research activities involved developing two-dimensional functional materials and investigating physical/electrochemical properties for applications in a wide range of electronics, optoelectronics photonics, and energy devices. Besides the 2-D material approach, his research also involves synthesis and processing of other nanostructures, including quantum dots, metallic nanostructures, metallic and hybrid materials for other functional applications. Dr. Das was the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Outstanding Ph.D. dissertation Award, IIT-gold Medal, Materials Research Society, USA poster Award, The American Ceramic society's McCARE poster Award, "Early Career awards, MHRD-STARS awards and many more. He got the honor of becoming a Senior Member of MRSC and Royal Society of Chemistry, in the year 2021 for his outstanding research contribution to date.
