个人简介
I, Sandra González Rubio, completed my degree in Biological Sciences (2005) and the
Master in Translational Biomedical Research (2011) at the University of Córdoba.
Since 2009 I have worked in the Liver Diseases and Digestive research group located at the Maimonides Institute of Biomedical Research of Córdoba (IMIBIC), where I defended the doctoral thesis entitled “Regulation of NOS-3 during bile acid-induced hepatocellular death”. I have dedicated my predoctoral training to the study of molecular mechanisms related with the development of hepatic cholestasis and the beneficial role of the oxide endothelial nitric synthase in this process. Thus, we have been able to identify different negative regulators of the enzyme and we have seen how the inhibition of these regulators (through the use of drugs) is associated with a reduction in hepatocellular damage. The results have been published in the scientific journals Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, Chemical Research in Toxicology, Biochemical Pharmacology and PLoS One and have led to the patents P201530576, P201530577 and P201531689 related to the use of drugs for the cholestasis treatment.
During these years, I have also had the opportunity to participate in various studies
related to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), highlighting works related to the
NOS-3 overexpression in a human HCC line (BBA MolecularCellResearch), the
identification of HCC biomarkers in cirrhotic patients (PLoSOne) and the expression of
mTOR in HCC candidates for liver transplantation (Int. J. Mol. Sci., 2019). Between
others, I have actively collaborated in research projects related to: (i) the role
exerted by fat deposits in the development of insulin resistance and injury
hepatic in morbid obesity; (ii) the identification of cancer biomarkers in patients
with adenoma and colorectal cancer; (iii) the rescue of steatotic grafts by means of a system extracorporeal perfusion (Transplantation Procedures); (iv) the kinetics of elimination of circulating tumor cells in HCC transplant patients undergoing therapy
immunosuppressive; (v) release of circulating tumor cells after local ablation of the HCC.
Of the 15 scientific articles indexed in the Thomson Reuters Web of Science, the
total number of times cited is 138 and 167 (Scopus Citation Database and Google Scholar, respectively). Of the total number of articles, 11 have been published in first quartile journals within the areas of biology and medicine, being 1 of them a journal of the first decile within of your area. In 5 of the publications I appear as the first author, all of them from journals of the first quartile/decile. With these data, the h index obtained is 8 and 9 (Scopus Citation Database and Google Scholar, respectively).
Currently I enjoy a postdoctoral contract, in its "junior" modality (file: RH-0075-2020), obtained by competitive competition and granted by the Ministry of Health and Families in 2020 (Junta de Andalucía), for a period of 3 years, attached to one of the main lines of research group: Release of Circulating Tumor Cells, after local ablation in the HCC.
