个人简介
Dr Sandra Davidson is a Senior Research Fellow and National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Early Career Fellow in the Department of General Practice, Melbourne Medical School. Sandra's research explores innovative approaches to the treatment and management of common mental health disorders.
She is the lead investigator on the Driving to Health project which is a world-first study aiming to improve the mental health of the largely immigrant workforce of urban taxi drivers. Her team has developed a smartphone-friendly website (Driving to Health) for taxi drivers which is designed to encourage mental health self-help behaviours and increase help-seeking for mental health problems among those who need it. Driver's engagement with the website and its potential for clinical effectiveness is currently being investigated in a feasibility study involving almost 50 Victorian taxi drivers. Driving to Health is funded by the Shepherd Foundation and the Melbourne Networked Society.
Dr Davidson is a Chief Investigator on two project grants funded by the NHMRC. 'Target-D' is a randomised controlled trial testing the clinical and cost-effectiveness of using a clinical prediction tool to triage primary care patients with depressive symptoms into different levels of treatment. 'Assertive Care' is a randomised controlled trial seeks to reduce cardiovascular risk among people with a severe mental illness.
