Bio
Sandor Biri was born in Szolnok, Hungary, in May 29, 1959. He received the Certified Physicist Diplome (summa cum laude), the “Doctor of University” degree, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from Kossuth Lajos University (now the University of Debrecen), Debrecen, Hungary, in 1983, 1991, and 1995, respectively.
He is currently with the Institute of Nuclear Research (ATOMKI), Debrecen. In 1993, he was appointed Leader of the Hungarian Electron Cyclotron Resonance (ECR) Ion Source Program. Since 2000, he has been the Leader of the ECR Group and Laboratory, as a Senior Researcher. He has worked on numerous collaborations and spent different times, as a Visiting Researcher, at Flerov Laboratory, Dubna, Russia; IKF Frankfurt, Germany; University of Louvain-la-Neuve, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium; RIKEN, NIRS, and Toyo University, Kawagoe, Japan. He is the author or coauthor of more than 90 scientific papers. His research interests include experimental physics, particularly ion sources, plasmas, and highly charged ions.
Dr. Biri was the recipient of the “Bolyai János Research Award” from the Hungarian Government (in 1998 and 2003).
