Bio
Dr Ewing is a neuroscientist, physicist and bioengineer passionate about medical device development with the ultimate goal of advancing technologies that improve quality of life. He has many years experience in international neuroscience research and medical technology, specialising in electrophysiology and neuromodulation.
This has included extensive algorithm development for feature detection and artefact removal in electrophysiological signals with applications covering seizure detection in epilepsy, tic detection in Tourette syndrome and algorithms for closed-loop electrical and optogenetic brain stimulation devices.
Currently he is leading the development of NeuroPro’s applied neuroscience pipeline including hardware for simplified human physiology data acquisition and software for real-time analytics, neurofeedback and collaborative neurophysiology research.
Additionally Dr Ewing has a broad knowledge of neurological and psychiatric disorders including, epilepsy, Tourette syndrome, depression, schizophrenia and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He gained his Master in Astrophysics at the University of Edinburgh before completing an Engineering Doctorate in Medical Devices at the University of Strathclyde.
