Bio
Dr. Dahal is a structural biophysicist and biochemist and instrument scientist for NMR. His current research focuses on the atomic level understanding of enzyme function, protein-drug interactions, His interest and focus lie on how to use NMR techniques on drugs discovery, for example, hit identification, relaxation filter experiments, binding experiments, ligand-based and protein-based experiments, NMR-guided model for binding sites, and the development of a biophysical assay. He strongly believes that NMR is the “gold standard” for studying molecular interaction. He uses NMR, X-ray scattering, neutron scattering, and other biophysical methods in combination with MD simulations to understand the three-dimensional structure and mechanism of actions of biomolecules. Dahal studied protein chemistry and NMR at Oklahoma State University. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Oklahoma State University. He studied macromolecular NMR, biochemistry, and molecular biology. While working as a Postdoctoral Associate at Oakridge National Laboratory he is focused on integral membrane proteins expressions in insect cells using the Baculovirus expression system, purification, and biophysical characterization of protein by analytical and biophysical methods including various chromatography resin chemistries and reconstitution into nano-discs using membrane scaffold protein and lipids membrane protein for Cryo-EM for structure determination. •
