I received a predoctoral grant FPU from the Spanish Ministry of Education from 2007 to 2011 and was awarded grants in 2008, 2009 and 2010 to collaborate with the University College Dublin (Ireland) and the Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency Weybridge (United Kingdom). From July 2012 to December 2017 I was in charge of R&D at the Center for Zoonotic Diseases, Bacterial Diseases and Antimicrobial Resistance (ZOBA), Institute of Bacteriology, Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern (Switzerland). In August 2013 I obtained the Swiss Diploma as a Veterinary Specialist in Bacteriology (FVH Labor- und Grundlagenmedizin Fachbereich Bakteriologie). In 2018 I consolidated my position as Senior Research Scientist in the host-pathogen interaction group of the Institute of Bacteriology, Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern (Switzerland) before moving on to a new position at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Norwegian University of Life Sciences in Oslo (Norway) in March 2019. My research interest focuses on host-microbiome interactions in infectious diseases of animals, especially in neglected zoonotic diseases such as leptospirosis.
