Her research has focused on plant and fungal natural products. Currently, Dr. McCormick is a member of a team of scientists conducting research on novel methods for controlling Fusarium Head blight and trichothecene mycotoxin contamination of grain. The goals of her research are to identify novel genes that modify, detoxify or otherwise provide resistance to mycotoxins. She uses organic and analytical chemistry methods to address these objectives.
