Bio
S. O. Catarino is, since July 2021, an Assistant Researcher at the Microelectromechanical Systems Research Unit (MEMS-UMinho) in University of Minho, Portugal. From January 2019 to July 2021, she was a Junior Researcher at the MalariaChip project. From 2016 - 2020, she was also a Visiting Assistant Professor at UMinho, lecturing at the Dept. of Industrial Electronics (DEI), in the areas of Modeling and Simulation for Microtechnologies, Electronics, Microsensors and Microactuators. From October 2015 to September 2018, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the same institution. From January 2014 to June 2015 she was a researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering, in the Department of Industrial Electronics, University of Minho, in February 2014. She received, in 2009, the M.Sc degree in biomedical engineering with the specialization in medical electronics from the same University. Her research interests include diagnosis and medical and lab-on-a-chip devices, optical and piezoelectric sensors and actuators and numerical studies of microfluidic devices.
