Dr. Sutapa Mukherjee's research is focused on obesity and type 2 diabetes, to explore the signaling cross-talk involving key insulin target tissues that is deemed crucial in the pathogenesis of insulin resistance. The causes inherent in male reproductive impairment associated with obesity-induced insulin resistance are being investigated. Her laboratory is also concerned about the toxicity of ubiquitous environmental chemicals viz. plasticizers and investigates their adverse metabolic effects.
