个人简介
Silvia Maria Pietralunga (born in 1966, married, three children), received her M.Sc degree (cum laude) in Opto-electronic Engineering in 1993 and her Ph.D in Electronics and Communication Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in 1998.
(1994-1995): she started her career as an optoelectronic engineer in the field of photonic materials and devices for optical communications, as a research Fellow and lecturer at the Department of Electronics of technical University Politecnico di Milano.
(1995-2008): she was employed as a Researcher with the private R&D consortium Corecom [Milano, Italy] (joint venture of Pirelli Company and technical University Politecnico di Milano) where she became Head of the Material Research Lab and of the Physical Optics Lab and Principal Investigator for the Area Materials and Devices. Research theme: devices for optical signal processing for telecom applications. Team Leader for CoreCom's activities in the frame of national and international research projects, in the areas of Optical Technologies and Physical Optics. Main activities: photoconductive and electro-optical effects in semiconductors; linear and non-linear optical response of photonic materials, study of the evolution of the optical State of Polarization of signals in optical fibers, related issues and mitigation techniques; growth (by reactive RF- Magnetron Sputtering) and characterization of thin films and oxides for Silicon integrated photonics applications); optical properties of metals and plasmonic structures for intra-chip interconnections.
(2009-2011): she was Researcher at Fondazione Politecnico di Milano (Milano, Italy): R&D activities on design and fabrication of plasmonic nanostructures and photonic solutions for photovoltaics.
Since 2011: she holds a permanent position as Researcher at CNR-IFN (Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnologies (IFN) of the Italian National Research Council). Since Jan 2023 she is Senior Researcher. Main topics: Electronic, optical and magnetic properties of low-dimensional systems. Current research activities involves photonics of new materials for energy, with specific care on micro and nano characterizations of their surface properties also in operating conditions (Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Scanning Auger Microspectroscopy (SAM)) and the development of new experimental methods in the field (optical-assisted SEM). She is also active in design of new solutions for optics of photovoltaic modules, by numerical simulation using ray-tracing methods and Finite Element Method.
She is reference person for CNR-IFN for energy-related activities [http://www.energia.cnr.it/ricerche-energia/ricerca-energia/ifn-istituto-di-fotonica-e-nanotecnologie.html]
S.M. Pietralunga has a record as responsible person for activities in funded projects on photovoltaics and related applications, also including integrated energy conversion and storage ( photovoltaics-hydrogen): PON Best4U-" Tecnologia per celle solari bifacciali ad alta efficienza a 4 terminali per “utility scale”, PON-FESR 2014-2020, Cod. ARS01_00519 . Role: WP Leader, Responsible for Research Unit IFN-CNR.
Regional Project: I-ZEB- “Towards Zero Energy Buildings for smart cities”, 3rd Framework agreement CNR-Lombardy Region (Conv.Op.n° 19366/RCC, 10/01/2017). Role: Task Leader: "Study, simulation and test of technological solutions for the maximization of energy performance of the building envelope”.
Regional Project: TIMES- “Tecnologie e materiali per l’utilizzo efficiente dell’energia solare”, 2nd Framework agreement CNR-Lombardy Region, ID: 17348. 2nd Framework agreement CNR-Lombardy Region, ID: 17348. Role: WP Leader: Inorganic Photovoltaics.
She is also presently involved as key-person for the Italian partner AEIT-CORIFI-CNR in the CSA H2020 Actions supporting the photonics technology platform and PPP Photonics21 ( Actual active project: BestPhoRM21-" Boosting Europe’s Sovereignty in Technology by driving Photonics from Research to Market – Photonics21" CSA (H2020-ICT-2020-2), Project: 101016520.
She holds a track in Academic Teaching in Optoelectronic Packaging (2006-2008 at Politecnico di Milano and IUSS- Pavia) and in Experimental Physics (2012-present . at Politecnico di Milano)
She has authored more than 100 international publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. She holds 9 international granted patents.
She is Member IEEE (Senior Member, Past President IEEE Photonics Italy), Member OPTICA, Member AEIT.
