Bio
Shanthi Prince (Member, IEEE) received M.S. (by Research) in biomedical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India in 1995 and Ph.D. degree in electronics and communication engineering from SRM University, Kattankulathur, India, in 2010.
She is currently a Professor with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, India. She has authored or coauthored several papers in reputed journals and is the author and coauthor of various scientific books. She holds five patents to her credit. Her research interests include optical wireless communication, optical wireless channel modeling, optical cryptography, integrated photonic devices, photonics in 5G, HVS-based image processing, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy studies on tissues, and development of noninvasive instrumentation for biomedical applications.
Dr. Prince was a recipient of the Career Award for Young Teacher, All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, for 2005. She was also a recipient of the IETE-CEOT (94) Award (BIENNIAL)–2016 for her contributions in the field of Biophotonics for 2016. She has successfully completed projects funded by the Defence Research and Development Organisation and Indian Space Research Organisation, Government of India, as a Principal Investigator. She is a Member of Optica (formerly known as Optical Society of America), a Life Member of Photonics Society of India, and a Fellow of the IETE and Optical Society of India.
