Bio
Souhail Besbes works as a Professor of food science and technology at the University of Sfax (Sfax, Tunisia), Director of studies and internships, Vice-Dean of the Higher Institute of Biotechnology of Sfax (ISBS, Sfax, Tunisia), Vice-President of the Mediterranean Association of Food Industries, and Head of the research group Valorisation of Vegetable Agro-Resources in the Laboratory of Valorisation, Analyses and Food Safety (LAVASA) of the National School of Engineer of Sfax, Tunisia (ENIS). He earned his Engineering Diploma in food engineering from ENIS (1997), his research M.S. degree in food science and technology from Gembloux Aro-Bio Tech (Liege University, Liege, Belgium, 2000), his Ph.D. degree in biology engineering and food engineering from ENIS (2005), and his Authority degree for the research direction from ENIS (2009). He began his professional career at 23 years old (1997) and he has spent the first 4 years of his career as an Engineer in Dairy Industry and in CNFCPP center for continuous training. He continued his postgraduate studies while working either in industry or as assistant professor/researcher. In addition to his duties as a professor/researcher, he has several collaborations and he provides technical assistance actions and training for food industries. Dr. Besbes is one of the leading experts in food science and technology.
