Career Trajectory
Bio
Stanley Affrossman graduated with a first-class (Hons) degree and the Ph.D. degree in selective reactions on heterogeneous catalysts from Glasgow University, Glasgow, U.K., in 1958 and 1961, respectively.
He was a Fellow of the National Research Council of Canada, Ottawa, ON, Canada, from 1961 to 1963, followed by an Assistant Lectureship in physical chemistry at the Royal College of Science and Technology from 1963 to 1965. He then moved back to Glasgow, but this time to Strathclyde University, becoming a Senior Lecturer in 1974 (1965-2001). His research interests include surface reactivity and heterogeneous catalysis, surface analysis using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, secondary ion mass spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy, chemical analysis of polymer surfaces and segregation of components of polymer blends, and ormation of topography in thin films of polymer blends.
