Career Trajectory
Bio
Rob has been a long-term employee for over 30 years in the School of Geography, Planning, and Spatial Sciences (GPSS) at the University of Tasmania, on the Sandy Bay campus. In his roles during this time, he has worked as the senior technical officer in surveying and spatial sciences, and on increasing the level of knowledge and respect of Tasmanian Aboriginal culture in teaching curriculum and research programs at the School and University College levels. Rob is involved with Aboriginal organisations at the grass roots community-level and is passionate about looking after Country, protecting and maintaining Aboriginal heritage sites, sharing his knowledge, and practicing culture. He was a member of the statutory [Tasmanian] Aboriginal Heritage Council for 5-years (2017-2022). Rob is currently an Indigenous Fellow in GPSS and undertaking a PhD. His thesis will examine factors enable regional Aboriginal community-controlled organisations to co-manage Tasmanian Aboriginal cultural (coastal) landscapes.
