个人简介
I am a PhD in Social Sciences with a background in research on social movements focusing on contemporary feminist and LGBTIQ activisms in Brazil, a subject that I have been interested since my master’s degree.
In my PhD dissertation, I analyzed recent forms of politicization of gender and sexuality, having as empirical object of study an informal network of young feminist activists based in Brazilian big cities such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Porto Alegre and Florianópolis.
In this ethnographic research among the activists I investigated the production of political collective subject considering the re-configurations of the feminist field in the last decade, the processes of generational renewal and the debate on forms of participation perceived as “institutionalized”.
In addition, as part of my doctoral studies, I did an internship abroad at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMASS) in the United States, under supervision of professor Sonia Alvarez, who is a well known scholar on topics like protest and civil society in Latin America. During the internship I was enrolled in the Center for Latin American, Caribbean and Latino Studies (CLACLS), where I had the opportunity of being in touch with scholars also interested in activisms in Latin America, which made me broaden my own analysis studying social, political and economic issues in the continent.
