个人简介
My laboratory is interested in understanding the biology of fungal pathogens, including the most prevalent human fungal pathogen, Candida albicans. C. albicans grows as a commensal organism in the human gastrointestinal tract, skin, and urogenital tract. However, in some cases, C. albicans can cause localized mucosal infections in healthy individuals as well as life-threatening systemic (bloodstream) infections in immunocompromised individuals. The focus of the laboratory is to understand how C. albicans and related Candida species can adapt to grow in multiple niches in the human body using both genetic and epigenetic mechanisms to generate diversity in the population.
